Bayan Ko, Teacher Ko Program

BKTK is a community-based literacy initiative that is rooted in the Filipino value of bayanihan, or harmony and collaboration within the community. It gives communities, partner institutions, and volunteers the ability to collaborate in order to address the reading difficulties that early-grade students encounter.

Tanglaw ng Bayan QCD1 has partnered with Angat Buhay Foundation, the proponent of the program to be able to support non-readers in our community.

In order to support the children to understand and construct words at an early age, the program adapted the Marungko Technique. It is a phonics-based method that emphasizes sound-based letter arrangements over the conventional sequence when teaching the contemporary Filipino alphabet. This helps students increases their confidence and fluency.

Tanglaw believes that through the BKTK program more children will improve in their reading literacy and numeracy.
